The Tanzania Commission for Science and Technology (COSTECH) is a parastatal organization affiliated with the government of Tanzania. It was created by an act of the Parliament of Tanzania in 1986 as a successor to the Tanzania National Scientific Research Council. PRESIDENT JAKAYA MRISHO KIKWETE APPOINTS COSTECH SENIOR RESEARCH OFFICER ENG OMAR JUMANNE BAKAR A NEW SIDO DIRECTOR GENERAL

President of the United Republic of Tanzania Dr Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete has appointed COSTECH Senior Research Officer Eng. Omari Jumanne Bakari a new Small Industries Development Organization(SIDO) Director General . According to a statement issued by the President’s Directorate of Communication, Eng Omar’s appointment started officially on 04th December 2013.Eng. The statement said Eng. Omari Jumanne Bakar is an experienced Tanzanian with education, capability and skills to head the Small Industries Development Organization. He is expected to help the Tanzanian country to explore different opportunities arises from Private sector, entrepreneurship and investment for economic development.
The statement also noted that his appointment focuses on creating employment opportunities through the effective use of Science, Technology and Innovation to Small and Medium Enterprise
