On 28th November 2013, the Tanzania Commission for Science and Technology (COSTECH), Zanzibar Office, presented the draft of the Zanzibar Research Agenda to the Presidential Research Committee, in Zanzibar.
Speaking during the event, Chairperson of the Presidential Research Committee Professor Ali Mshimba noted that the Zanzibar Research Agenda draws most of its recommendations from the Zanzibar Strategy for Growth and Reduction of Poverty (MKUZA), Five Year Development Plan and National Vision 2020, and other planning documents, and identifies priority areas that need research in order to address sectoral challenges, and strengthen the use of evidence informed decisions when formulating policies for sustainable socio-economic development. He also noted that once the final report is done, will be presented to the Zanzibar Planning Commission and then to the President for implementation.
