The Nyerere Resource Centre, also known as Kavazi la Mwalimu has today held a public lecture to discuss the use of Mwalimu Nyerere’s legacy on multiparty politics. During the event, the centre also launched the Kavazi Occasional Paper No. 3 – Insha Tatu za Kifalsafa za Mwalimu Nyerere  which comprises of three philosophical essays Watu wote ni sawa?, Kazi and Kuishi Pamoja.

According to the Kavazi Director, Prof. Issa Shivji, all the three essays had never been published anywhere. “During our research we found that all the three essays had never been published anywhere. We found them on his Butiama library. They were typed by a typist, and we’ve decided to publish them on their original format without editing any word from them,” he said.

The event was graced by the former United Republic of Tanzania Prime Minister and African Union Secretary General Dr. Salim Ahmed Salim. It was also attended by the former President of the United Republic of Tanzania Alhaj Hassan Mwinyi, the son of the late Mwalimu Julius Nyerere, Mr. Madaraka Nyerere, the COSTECH Director General Dr. Hassan Mshinda, dignitaries from the Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung from Berlin Germany, researchers, academicians, political party dignitaries and the general public.
The former United Republic of Tanzania Prime Minister and African Union Secretary General Dr. Salim Ahmed Salim holds the Occasional Paper No. 3 right after the launch. He is flanked by Mr. Madaraka Nyerere, the son of the late President of the United Republic of Tanzania Mwalimu Julisu Nyerere. Looking on is the Nyerere Resource Centre Director Prof. Issa Shivji.
