The Globe program

E-mail Print PDF

Dear All,

GLOBE is extremely active in Tanzania! I also would like to ensure that
you all are aware of an amazing GLOBE regional project in Africa involving
GLOBE student research on Mt. Kilimanjaro.

Last year the event was an amazing success:
*6,656 Web visits during  the 10-day trek  (Sept. 2009).
*72 Schools from 12 Countries posted questions.
*Over 450 questions were emailed to Base Camp.
*64 were answered from the mountain.
*All other Questions were answered and posted with pictures on the event
Web page where planning for next year’s event is taking place.
*Over 30 schools shared detailed biomes.

This event drew an amazing amount of attention to Tanzania and the GLOBE
research that is being conducted in Africa. For more information please
see:

Currently, the GLOBE Africa regional governance board is trying to find
funding to support the GLOBE Alumni Regional Representatives (each of the
6 GLOBE regions has an Alumni leader referred to as their GLOBE Alumni
Regional Representative) to assist with this year's event (planned for
September 2010). Each Alumni Regional Representative would be responsible
for managing communications from the mountain back to the GLOBE students
in their region who are following the event.

If I can answer any questions you may have about the GLOBE Program, GLOBE
in Africa, or the Mt. Kilimanjaro expedition planned for this September.
