This prestigious international award, sponsored by Pfizer Inc, is designed to reward scientists at an early stage of their research career and to promote capacity building in the developing world.
The 2010 award is open to any research scientist, based in Africa, making an innovative contribution to the biological sciences, including basic medical science that has led to a sustainable positive impact on Africa.
Up to £60,000 will be awarded as a grant in order for the recipient to carry out a research project that is linked to an African centre of scientific excellence, which would normally be a University, or equivalent research centre. £5,000 will be given as a prize to the recipient.
