Dr. Lupiana has chaired and has been a member of a number of technical committees for organizing international academic conferences. He has been a reviewer of a number of international journals and conferences. He has been a Guest Editor of a general track of the 25th European Conference on Information Systems (ECIS2017) and a number of international journals. He is currently co-editing a book which is due in 2018. He has teamed up, co-authored and submitted a number of research proposals to a number of international organizations. He has been involved as an internal examiner by the Faculty of Computing in Griffith College in Dublin, Ireland. He is an external examiner of the Dar es Salaam Institute of Technology (DIT) and the University of Dar es Salaam Computing Centre (UCC). He has been a member of curriculum validation committee for the National Council for Technical Education (NACTE). He has been involved by the Vocational Educational and Training Authority (VETA) as an expert on developing curriculum for computing courses. Dr. Lupiana received his PhD in 2015 in Knowledge-driven Distributed Architecture for Context-Aware Systems from Dublin Institute of Technology, Ireland. In 2008, he received MSc in Computing (Knowledge Management) from Dublin Institute of Technology, Ireland with first class. He holds Advanced Diploma in Information Technology (2005) from the Institute of Finance Management. He also holds Full Technician Certificate (FTC) in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering (2002) from the Dar es Salaam Institute of Technology.
